Educational Supports for Students, Teachers and Parents

Set yourself up for success this school year with resources to support learning in the classroom and at home. We’d love to help!  

The library has much more than books to offer. We have a variety of subscriptions services you can access with your library card. And many of them are specifically geared to students, parents and teachers looking for learning resources. From children just starting their school years to adults extending their academic journey we have supports for every age and stage. 

Our Five Favourite FREE Learning Tools

Brainfuse

Brainfuse is a virtual tutoring and learning resource for students in kindergarten through postsecondary. It aligns with Ontario Academic Standards and connects students to live qualified tutors who can help them in an online classroom. Live tutoring is available seven days a week from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.  Students can also send questions or writing assignments any time of day to receive a personalized answer within 24-hours. Brainfuse also offers tutorial videos, practice tests, flashcards, and a collaborative workplace where students can meet virtually to work on assignments. It is a fantastic, well-rounded resource and FREE to access with your BPL card. 

Mango Languages

Mango Languages is a language-learning website and mobile app that offers 71 language courses, English lessons in 17 languages and specialty courses to teach cultural differences. Mango adapts to your unique learning style, so you pick up on new vocabulary, learn unfamiliar grammatical structure, and train your pronunciation, all while boosting your cultural IQ.  

LinkedIn Learning

Unlock thousands of hours of quality video learning with LinkedIn Learning. This online platform has video library of 3,500+ high quality courses, which include more than 144,000 high video tutorials. Courses are taught by industry experts in the areas of business, software, technology, and creative skills to help achieve personal and professional goals.  LinkedIn Learning allows you to organize your courses and track your progress. It includes great tools to developing skills like time management, project management, and communication, along with hard skills like video production, Google Ads, and Excel. 

FREE with your card- LinkedIn Learning

TeenBookCloud

TeenBookCloud is an online collection of streaming titles, including graphic novels, enhanced novels, eBooks and audiobooks, classics, and National Geographic videos. Suitable for middle school and high school-age readers and older, TeenBookCloud offers a variety of choices for book reports or independent study. It is also a great way to access many digital books for in-class novel study. Unlike our traditional eBook collection, unlimited users can access these books at the same time.

Road to IELTS - Internation English Language Testing System

Road to IELTS is a digital resource designed to help people prepare and study for the IELTS, a testing system used to help newcomers work, study or migrate to Canada. This resources offers two practice test modules: the Academic module for people wishing to enter an academic environment and the General Training module for those wishing to work or obtain citizenship to Canada. Both modules provide preparation for all four aspects of the IELTS: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

How to Access These Resources 

The first step to accessing our digital resource subscriptions is to get a library card. Don’t have one? No problem! You can visit a branch to get a card if you live, work, or study in Burlington. You can also sign up for a membership online

View the Resources page on our website to see the services mentioned in this article and more. Click the links to visit their websites and enter your BPL card number and password when prompted. It’s that simple! Some subscriptions will remember your login information, and others will ask you to enter it each time you visit. Bonus! Some of these services also offer apps so you can access them easily on your smartphone or tablet.
