Work Abroad

There are formal programs through the Government of Canada as well as other popular avenues for living and working in a foreign country.

International Experience Canada (IEC)

The Government of Canada's International Experience Canada (IEC) is a fantastic starting point for working abroad. IEC has agreements in over 35 countries, allowing you to earn money, gain professional experience, and travel. It could be a working holiday, an international co-op, or a job abroad.

Popular Destinations: Australia, the UK, Japan, New Zealand, France, and Ireland are some examples, each offering a distinct adventure.

Teach English Abroad

If you have a passion for language, teaching English is in high demand globally, especially in countries like South Korea, Spain, and Japan. A bachelor's degree and a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate will open doors around the world.

Global Internships

Make the most of your education and seek a professional internship abroad in your field. Organizations like AIESEC and the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) connect students and recent graduates with paid internships in areas like marketing, IT, and engineering in dozens of countries.

Study Abroad

For those who wish to pursue further academic studies or research, many countries offer scholarship opportunities. Check out the Government of Canada’s practical tips on how to start investigating your options, applying for necessary permits, and preparing for your trip.
