Looking for the perfect gift for a book lover, teacher, grandparent, or child in your life? A donation in their honour carries more meaning than any item you can wrap. It supports thousands of kids who visit the Library every year—each one discovering new ideas, forming friendships, and building the skills they need for what comes next.
Last year, people connected with their public library over 4.1 million times in person and online. Every visit was a chance for your generosity to help a child read their first book, try a science activity, join a storytime, or simply find a safe place to play.

Your Gift Makes a Real Impact
The generosity of Library supporters last year helped enrich the lives of children and families across our community. Thanks to their contributions, more than 2,100 kids in the 2025 Summer Reading Club enjoyed a more exciting, engaging, and memorable experience. Donations helped us enhance weekly incentives and prize draws to encourage more kids to stay motivated all summer long and offer more activities and programs, such as live puppet shows.
Donations from the Kids Learning Fund and a legacy gift to BPL will be used to enhance our children’s areas across all branches next year, such as new hands-on learning and play activities and digital technology.
Here’s how your donation makes an impact:
- $30 can place up to four new children’s books into eager hands.
- $100 supplies materials for a hands-on STEAM or literacy program.
- $200 helps refresh our play areas so kids can learn through movement, imagination, and social play.
No matter the size, your gift strengthens a community hub where children feel supported, connected, and inspired.
“This campaign is about possibilities,” adds Barrie. “Together, we can ensure every child in Burlington has access to spaces and experiences that help them learn, connect, and imagine what’s possible.”
How to Donate to BPL’s Kids Learning Fund
Make an online donation to the Kids Learning Fund using our CanadaHelps donation form. You’ll receive a tax receipt instantly for gifts over $20.
Prefer to give in person? Visit any BPL branch to donate by cash or card. Be sure to pick up a donor postcard to include in a holiday card for someone you’ve donated in honour of. You’ll receive a tax receipt by mail for contributions over $20.
