Help Make Burlington Merry and Bright!
This holiday season, Burlington Public Library is asking for your help in supporting literacy and learning for kids of all ages. A donation to our Kids Learning Fund helps:
- grow our children's collections with books, technology, and more;
- fund free programs to build a love of reading, science, and art; and,
- upgrade our children's areas with toys, furnishings, and technology that make the library a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
The Joy of Giving
Giving and receiving gifts is one of the joys of the holidays. But we know many folks are trying to reduce their carbon footprint and the amount of “stuff” they are acquiring. If you have someone on your list who loves reading and learning but doesn’t need more books on their shelf, consider a gift to the Kids Learning Fund in their honour.
A $30 donation can purchase up to four books for our children's collection. A $100 donation can buy supplies for a STEAM or literacy programming session. And a $200 donation can help replace aging play equipment.
The Impact of Gifts That Stay at the Library
Shopping for someone who already has lots of presents under the tree? This one will stay at the library!
Every dollar donated to the Kids Learning Fund benefits tens of thousands of children every year. Last year, we had over 2.4 million visits to our branches and online services, many of those from families and kids. Each of those visits is an opportunity for your gift to change a child’s life by inspiring their love of reading, connecting them to peers and mentors, and giving them a safe space to play and learn.
How to Donate to the Kids Learning Fund
You can make an online donation directly to the Kids Learning Fund through our Canada Helps donation form below. Donors immediately receive a receipt by email. Tax receipts are provided for all donations over $20.
You can also visit your nearest branch to make a cash or card donation in person with a BPL staff member. We will issue a tax receipt for an in-person contribution over $20. Our branches are currently providing donor postcards. Be sure to pick one up to include in a holiday card for someone you’ve donated in honour of.
BPL Tote Bags
All proceeds from BPL tote bag sales during December support our Kids Learning Fund. Our tote bags come in two styles and make a great gift for the book lovers in your life. You can purchase tote bags at any of our branches.
