The CEO's Corner - Summer 2025

Summer is officially here and we’re ready to welcome you at the Library! Whether you’re looking to find your next great read, learn something new, or you’re just looking for a place to cool down from the heat, there’s something for you at our branches. Let’s take a look at what’s new at the Library this summer.

Customer Satisfaction Survey Results Are In

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the more than 4,600 people who took the time to share their thoughts through our Customer Satisfaction Survey. The survey found that:

  • 95% agree library staff provide good service.
  • 94% agree the library has a positive impact on their lives.
  • 96% believe the library improves the well-being of the community as a whole.

We also received many suggestions and feedback about our library spaces, programs, events, and resources. Over the next few months, we’ll be reviewing your comments as part of our commitment to using data to improve our services, spaces, and resources.

I’m also thrilled to share that BPL has been recognized as one of the 2025 Best Workplaces™ in Government & Social Services. Thank you to all of the staff at BPL who make the library a great place to work.

Summer Reading Club Kicks Off

Summer Reading Club for kids ages 0-17 officially starts this week, and there’s still time to sign up! This free program keeps kids reading throughout summer vacation to help them maintain and improve their reading skills.

Create in Our MakerStation – Coming Soon

We’re expanding our maker offerings to Alton Branch with the launch of our MakerStation starting July 24. This will be a drop-in and self-guided creative space equipped with a 3D printer, sewing machine, Cricut® cutting machine, and button maker for creators of all ages.

Happy reading and creating!
