Whether you’re holiday gift-shopping, looking for a household appliance, buying a new car—or trying to save a few bucks while inflation puts a squeeze on your wallet—being a savvy shopper can save you both time and money.

Take the first step with Consumer Reports, an independent organization that has been helping shoppers make informed buying decisions for nearly 88 years.

Burlington Public Library (BPL) gives you free access to this valuable resource. Check it out on the BPL website in the RESOURCES section, under Reference & Research.

Buy with Advice from the Pros

Consumer Reports provides unbiased ratings, reviews, recommendations, and buying advice from expert testers on its website, ConsumerReports.org. It covers thousands of products and services, such as cars, electronics, and appliances. You can also find frequently updated articles and videos on the latest consumer news, such as product recalls.

You can browse reports and recommendations on different product categories using the main menu at the top of every ConsumerReports.org web page. Find ratings, buying guides, and price comparisons.

The News tab (under More + in the menu) takes you to a section containing in-depth advice, tips, and trends written by Consumer Reports experts. You can also sign up to receive Consumer Reports news emails, including product recalls due to safety.
