When bad weather hits

Library branches are OPEN Tue January 18. Alton branch remains closed until Jan 26.

Here's what you need to know about library closure due to inclement weather.

When concern for the safety of our visitors and staff calls for the closure of Burlington Public Library, we'll do our best to let you know as early as possible.

If the weather is stormy, before you travel to the library we suggest that you find out first if we are open or planning to close early. You can do this a number of ways:

  • Visit the library's website, Facebook, and Twitter. Depending on our ability to connect online, we will keep you informed.
  • Call Central Library at 905.639.3611. If the library is closed or closing for the day, there will be a recorded message when you phone our main telephone line.
  • Tune in to a local radio station and their social media for winter storm closure updates: CHML 900, Y108, Y95.3, 102.9 K-LITE FM, and CHAM820

We appreciate that closing the library due to poor weather conditions may be inconvenient for you. Rest assured we make this decision in the best safety interests of our valued customers and library staff.
