World Breastfeeding Week

World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every year from August 1 to 7. Held in over 120 countries, World Breastfeeding Week aims to encourage and provide support for breastfeeding everywhere and improve the health of babies around the world. For 2020, WBW is focusing on climate change and the environment, working together across sectors to protect, promote and support breastfeeding for the health of the planet. Check out our staff-picked list of suggested reads for information and helpful tips on breastfeeding in the link below.

Here in Burlington, Halton Public Health offers Breastfeeding Connection, a free telephone support program aimed at providing information and support to expectant and breastfeeding parents. The Halton Baby Friendly Initiative has links on their website to helpful online resources, including a series of 10 minute videos on everything from what to do about pain and how to increase your milk supply. And because La Leche League Canada is now hosting their meetings virtually, you aren't limited by geography and are free to attend the meetings that work best for your own schedule! Check out our links below for these resources and more.
