A makerspace is a place where people create, invent, learn together, and build skills for life. Libraries around the world are home to these vibrant learning and innovation hubs for co-creation.
We know that 21st century literacies—such as problem solving, team work, critical thinking, initiative, self-direction, adaptability, and math, technical and design skills—are important to our daily living. Makerspaces are one of the best ways to learn the skills that are essential today and for the future.
Building a culture of creation instead of consumption is at the heart of every makerspace, where dreaming, designing, exploring, imagining, inquiring, tinkering, playing, planning, hacking, fiddling, making, constructing, collaborating, testing, trying, failing—and trying again, are all embraced!
