Meet Clelia, Maker-in-Residence

photo collage plus cleliaWelcome to Clelia’s Imaginarium!

We are so pleased to introduce our new Maker-in-Residence, Clelia Scala, mask and puppet designer, collage artist, and illustrator.

Her fantastical masks have graced stages in North America and Europe, and her puppets have captivated audiences in Canada and the United States. Clelia joins us for her 12-week residence now until August 31.

Clelia studied puppet construction and performance at the Humber Puppetry Intensive and at the New England Puppet Intensive, and woodcarving and puppet building at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. Along with her professional studies, she has taken courses and workshops in painting, printmaking, shadow puppetry, and sculpture, and has taught mask-making and puppet-making to all ages.

During her residency, she will  run a variety of workshops for all ages and use the makerspace equipment to create a forest installation out of new and recycled materials.

At designated times every week, you’ll have a chance to chat and create with the artist. And, if you’re fans of Facebook or Instagram, you can follow Clelia’s maker adventures on the Library’s social media.
