Meet Alda, Maker-in-Residence

Update, June 29: It's slow and precise work that's well underway, and Alda will continue throughout today. The installation looks amazing. Encouraging words are always appreciated!

Update, June 22: Alda's time at BPL is wrapping up soon! On Wed June 27 and Thu June 28, Alda will install "Thaw," her 12-week residency project.

She will hang the brilliantly-coloured laser-cut acrylic waterdrops (there are 200!) one at a time, each suspended in Central's grand lobby. So, if you plan to come into the branch later next week, make sure to look up... way, way up!

Please note: there may be some congestion in the main foyer at Central on Wednesday and Thursday, since a scissor lift will be onsite for Alda to use to hang her high pieces. Signs will be in place for your safe passage around the work zone.

Having Alda here at Burlington Public Library has been an amazing experience for us. We hope you had a chance to drop by our makerspace at Central to meet Alda and learn more about laser cutting and digital manufacturing and how they can be used in creative and artistic ways.

Thank you, Alda, for sharing your knowledge and passion with the Burlington community!
