Bike Month is an opportunity for people to try riding a bike for the first time, learn new skills, or simply have fun and connect with new people. Riding a bike is one of the best ways to get around and explore your community. Did you know that 50% of trips in Burlington could be accomplished via a less-than 20 minute bike ride? To help you ride safely, starting on Monday, May 31, you can pick up sets of bike bells and lights at all our open branches! Bells and lights are provided courtesy of the City of Burlington's Cycling Advisory Committee, and available until we run out.
New to cycling? Looking to ride for the first time in a while? Check out the live webinars and other resources from Bike Month (see below - Related Links) to learn about everything from how to fit a helmet, how to plan your route, bike maintenance, and safe cycling with kids.
Looking for new ways to connect to those outside your household bubble? Challenge your friends, family and co-workers to a bike-a-thon! See who can rack up the most kilometres ridden during Bike Month on the kilometre counter linked below.
Plus, if you need hands-on help with your ride, click on Rolling Horse in Related Links. Rolling Horse is a non-profit bicycle shop offering full service and refurbished bike sales. They accept bike donations during open hours and have volunteer opportunities.
