Safe Space

Burlington Public Library is a place for everyone. We respect diversity and strive to ensure that every member of our community has access to the Library's resources and services within a safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment.

The Library works together with local organizations that engage, support, and mobilize the 2SLGBTQ+ community, to make sure our spaces, collections, and services are barrier-free for all.

PFlag Halton

PFlag is Canada’s only national organization that offers peer-to-peer support for issues of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, and offer local, practical, and emotional peer-to-peer family support for individuals and their loved ones challenged by gender/sexual identity. PFLag Halton provides monthly peer support meetings for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals and their loved ones, and strives to build visibility, community, and respect in the Halton region.

Positive Space Network (PSN)

We also work closely with Halton Positive Space Network. Positive Space Network (PSN) is a community-based program sponsored by ROCK - Reach Out Centre for Kids. PSN envisions a future in which diverse LGBTQI2S youth, individuals, and families live in a welcoming and supportive community. PSN offers LGBTQI2S youth and trans specific programming across the Halton Region.
