Take our overnight eco challenge this summer! Unplug and participate in Earth-friendly activities like a scavenger hunt, upcycled crafting, and beginner bike mechanics! 13 hours without a status update...can you do it?
Here's what's happening...
Check in @ 7pm followed by a Welcome & Orientation
Team Scavenger Hunt @ 8.30pm
9.30-10.30pm it's workshop time! You choose one of these:
Alternate Transportation / All About Cycling
From recreation cycling (road or mountain bikes) to commuting to school or work, learn all you need to know about biking around Burlington: beginner mechanic tips, road etiquette and safety, what to look for in a bike and gear, maps of local cycling roads.
GoLocal / Make Your Own Smoothie
Learn about the BurlingtonGreen Local food network. Find out who is producing locally and what is produced, how to make your own smoothie from fresh summer fruit.
Recycled Craft / Upcycled Bird Feeder
Create a bird feeder from found materials while you hear about local ecosystems and upcycling.
After snacks at 10.30pm, there's a bunch of fun stuff to fill the rest of your hours:
- games
- an eco film
- reading
- board games
- Operation Knit Bomb
- more crafts
- sleep (for those who choose) in designated rooms
Breakfast is served up at 7am and by 8am you're on your way home (and probably to sleep!)
Open to adventerous teens ages 14-18 (or entering grade 9 in September 2012).

All participants need to return a completed registration form and signed parental permission slip to the library before Friday, August 17.
