When the weather outside is frightful...

When concern for the safety of our visitors and staff calls for the closure of the Burlington Public Library system, we'll do our best to let you know as early as possible.

If the weather is stormy, before you travel to the library we suggest that you find out first if we are open or planning to close early. You can do this a number of ways:

  1. Tune in to a local radio station for winter storm closure updates: CHML 900, Y108, Y95, K-LITE FM, CKOC1150, and CHAM820.
  2. Watch CHTV for their storm closure announcements.
  3. Call Central Library at 905.639.3611. If the library is closed or closing for the day, there will be a pre-recorded message when you phone our main telephone line.
  4. Visit the library's website. Depending on our ability to connect to our website, we will keep you informed under BPL Top Story.

We appreciate that closing the library due to poor weather conditions may be inconvenient for you. Rest assured we make this decision in the best safety interests of our valued visitors and library staff.
