Other Charges

Items lost and paid for
If the item is found within three months you may return it to the library along with your receipt for a full refund. However, the late fee will apply.

60 days overdue charges
Overdue items will be considered lost if they are still checked out to your library card 60 days or more past the due date. The charge for lost items is:

  • the library’s replacement cost of the item;
  • plus a processing charge - $4 for all items, except magazines and paperbacks where the charge is $2.

After 60 days, a bill will be applied to your library card, and your library card will be blocked. This means that you will not be able to borrow library materials, place holds using the online catalogue, or renew items.

If you are billed for an item but are able to return it to the library, you will no longer have to pay the replacement cost of the item and the processing charge will be waived, leaving only the late fee.

How to avoid late fees

  • Keep track of your library account through the library catalogue.
  • Sign up for email notification. You will receive a due date reminder two days before your item is due.
  • Renew items before they are due.
