	Halton Parenting Programs Presented in partnership by Burlington Public Library and Halton Public Health. View seminar descriptions here. Minimum registration is required for programs to run.

	March Magic Reading Central Branch Month of March Wave a magic wand and find out what kind of book to take home and read. When you return your book, tell Children's staff about what you have read and get a prize. Join the fun! Feel the MAGIC!

	Legomania Brant Hills Branch Monday, March 15 9am-9pm Drop in any time during the day to create a Lego masterpiece. We will take your picture with your creation and then display the works for the rest of the week. You can keep the picture but not the Lego!

	Reptile Party! - FULL New Appleby Branch Wednesday, March 17 2.30-3.15pm Get ready for some BIG reptile fun with Reptile Party! All ages welcome, children under five years old must be accompanied by a paying adult. $3/person. Seating is limited, please pre-purchase your tickets.

	Create-A-Cartoon Workshop Central Branch Thursday, March 18 1.30-2.30pm Draw your own magic character as you learn more about cartooning with Chris Howard. For ages 8+. $5/person. Please register at Children's Info desk.

	Mehndi Henna Workshop New Appleby Branch Friday, March 19 2.30-4pm Mehndi, the ancient art of henna painting on the body, combines celebration, tradition, spirituality, and breathtaking beauty. Best of all, it's not permanent and it's lots of fun! Ages 10+. Please register.

	Do you have a budding writer in your family? It's spring, and time to start thinking about how the children will be spending the summer. Click here to see details of Book Camp 2010. Burlington Public Library's annual Book Camp will be running from Monday August 9 to Friday August 13.

	Each year the Ontario Library Association sponsors the Forest of Reading™ program for readers of all ages and abilities. Canadian authors write all the nominated books. Registered participants read the books and vote for their favourite. Click here for details.

	Battle of the Books Every spring we invite all elementary schools to enter teams of students in grades 3 to 8 in a fast-paced competition that tests their knowledge about books. This year we celebrate our 25th annual Battle of the Books and you're invited to watch! Mark your calendars now for the Senior Final on April 28 and the Junior Final of April 29, both at 1pm. Burlington's top two teams will go on to compete in the Halton-wide final hosted at Burlington Public Library on May 6. Click here for more information about the program.

	Destination Jungle This summer! Join the TD Summer Reading Club for Kids at BPL. It's new and improved for 2010! Starts June 26.

	Internet Databases A wide range of books and materials are also made available through our subscription databases. These also include databases for younger kids. Search children' s magazines and reference books using special interfaces designed for elementary school kids. This page includes the ever popular Tumblebooks.
