Electronic Books (eBooks)

Electronic books (eBooks) can be 'borrowed' from the library and read on your computer, or downloaded to your computer or portable device or PDA. Online eBooks may be read only on your computer screen, and are not actually downloaded to your computer. If you wish to download a book to listen to, go to our Digital Audiobooks page.

Downloadable eBooks

New EPUB format now available! Adobe eBooks (PDF) available through BPL's Download Centre have now been expanded with the recent addition of over 200 titles in the new EPUB format. This new format features reflowable text which allows a user to resize the text and alter the display to fit any screen size. We will continue to add new titles each month in both the EPUB format and the Adobe PDF format.

All eBooks can be read on a PC or Mac system using free reader software called Adobe Digital Editions. As well, both of these formats are compatible with the Sony Reader. Please note that materials available through this service cannot be downloaded to computers located in the library.

Online eBooks

Our netLibrary collection provides you with access to over 8,000 eBooks—both fiction and non-fiction. Read the full-text of any of these eBooks from a computer in the library or at home. All you need is an Internet connection! Some eBooks require Adobe's free Acrobat Reader product, which is easy to download.

TumbleTalkingBooks provides unlimited access to an online collection of full-length streamed audio books which you can listen to from any home computer with an Internet connection. Note that these are NOT downloadable to your computer.
