Internet Databases - General Research

You will need to enter the 14 digit number from your Burlington Public Library card to access BPL's online databases remotely, e.g. from home. These resources are NOT available to reciprocal borrowers registered with cards from Halton or Hamilton libraries.

Contains over 400,000 biographies on more than 320,000 people from a wide range of subject areas, including full-text articles from more than 280 magazines.

Canadian Points of View Reference Centre (EBSCO)

This database provides information on 100 key topics of interest to Canadian researchers, with an overview (objective, background, description), point (argument), counterpoint (opposing argument), and Critical Thinking Guide. Topics include the environment, human rights, race, substance abuse and many more.

netLibrary (netLibrary)

Access to over 8,000 eBooks—both fiction and non-fiction. The full-text for all of these eBooks is available either from in the library or at home. All you need is an Internet connection! Some eBooks require Adobe's free Acrobat Reader product, which is easy to download.
