Central Library phone service disruption - Aug 11

Mon, Jul 25 2011

image of phoneWe are installing a new phone system at Central Library on Thursday, August 11. During this work, phone service will be down or disrupted. We apologize for any inconvenience to you and appreciate your patience.

With this telephone system upgrade, all extensions at Central Library will change to four digits from the current 3-digit extensions. One of the features callers will appreciate is the enhanced auto attendant to help direct your call. During regular open hours, callers who need help will still be able to speak to our library receptionist.

Central Library is the second BPL location to undergo a phone upgrade this year. The phone system at Tansley Woods was upgraded in May, with the remaining locations to be completed by spring 2012. This project is a joint initiative of the Library and City of Burlington.

Keep cool at the library!

Wed, Jul 20 2011

The library is a great place to escape the heat and relax for a few minutes...or hours.

While you're here, check out our daily programs or catch-up on your emails at our computers with Internet access. Feel free to bring your own laptop—we're wireless throughout the library system.

You don't need to be a member to enjoy our spaces, but you do need a library card if you want to borrow any items. So, if you haven't got a card yet, this week's extreme heat forecast offers an excellent opportunity to come in and find out what's on!

One day my library will ...

Tue, Jul 12 2011

Over the past few weeks when you visited the library, you may have noticed a plain paper banner residing on a table with a big printed sentence:

One day my library will...

We hope that you had the chance to add your comments and share your library vision on the banner, but in case you missed it at your branch, you can add your thoughts here.

Your ideas matter to us

This collection of comments is one of our first steps towards preparing our next strategic plan. We'd like to hear from as many people as possible what you imagine for the future of Burlington Public Library.

Have your say

Over the next few months and into the fall, we will have more opportunities for community input. Watch the website for strategic planning updates later this summer.
